Check-In & Walk Lists

Event day is here! Here's what happens when you arrive and how to use your walk list if you're canvassing.

Checking In

When you arrive at the event location:

• Open ActionGrid on your phone

• You'll see a Check In button on your upcoming shift card (it appears when you're near the event location)

• Tap Check In

• You're marked as present and your hours start tracking

If the check-in button isn't appearing, make sure location services are enabled on your phone. You can also ask the event organizer to check you in manually.

Why Check In?

Checking in logs your attendance, starts tracking your volunteer hours, and lets the organizer know you're there. It also contributes to your badges and streaks!

Getting Your Walk List

If you're on a canvass shift, you'll receive a walk list after checking in. A walk list is a list of addresses and voter information for your assigned area. Here's how it works:

• After check-in, tap View Walk List

• You'll see a list of addresses in order, with a map showing your route

• Each address shows the voter's name and any notes from the campaign

Using Your Walk List

As you visit each address:

• Tap the address to see voter details and the conversation script

• Knock on the door and have your conversation

• Record the outcome — did they answer? Were they supportive? Not home?

• Tap Next to move to the next address

The map updates as you go, showing which houses you've visited and which are still ahead.

Offline Mode

Worried about cell signal? ActionGrid downloads your walk list for offline use. Your responses sync automatically when you're back online.

Finishing Up

When you're done with your walk list or your shift time is up:

• Head back to the meeting point

• Tap End Shift in the app

• Your responses are synced and your hours are logged
