Growing Your Network

Volunteering is better when you know people. ActionGrid makes it easy to connect with fellow volunteers and build a network of people who care about the same things you do.

Following Other Volunteers

When you meet someone at an event or see someone active in a community, you can follow them:

• Tap on their profile

• Tap Follow

• You\'ll see their activity in your feed — shifts they complete, badges they earn, events they attend

Following is one-way by default (like social media). If they follow you back, you\'re connected and can message each other directly.

Tap Follow on any volunteer\'s profile to add them to your network

Your Network

Your network is everyone you\'re connected with (mutual follows). View your network from your profile by tapping Network. You\'ll see:

• People you follow

• People following you

• Mutual connections

• Suggested connections based on shared events and communities

Your network page shows followers, following, and mutual connections

Suggested Connections

ActionGrid suggests people you might want to connect with based on:

• Shared volunteer events and shifts

• Common communities you both belong to

• Similar interests and causes

• Mutual connections in your network

Suggested connections are based on shared events, communities, and interests

Team Connections

When you volunteer on the same shift or at the same event as someone, ActionGrid suggests you connect. These "shift buddies" often become your closest volunteer friends — you\'ve literally walked the same streets together!

After Every Event

Take 30 seconds after each event to follow people you worked with. Building your network event by event creates a strong community before you know it.

Direct Messaging

Once you\'re mutually connected, you can send direct messages. Use this to:

• Coordinate rides to events

• Share tips and encouragement

• Plan to attend shifts together

• Build genuine friendships beyond volunteering

Privacy Controls

You\'re in control of what people see. In your privacy settings, you can:

• Hide your activity from your feed

• Restrict who can message you

• Make your profile visible only to connections

• Opt out of leaderboards and public stats

Go to Settings > Privacy to adjust these.

Control your visibility and messaging preferences in privacy settings

Build Your Community

• Make your profile inviting

• Join communities to meet more people
