Location Not Working?

ActionGrid uses your location to show nearby events and enable shift check-in. If location isn't working, here's how to fix it.

Why ActionGrid Needs Location

Location is used for two main things:

• Finding events near you — sorting events by distance requires knowing where you are

• Shift check-in — the check-in button appears when you're near the event location

Location access is optional — you can always search for events by zip code instead. But check-in requires location to verify you're at the event.

Enabling Location on Mobile

iPhone (iOS)

• Open Settings

• Scroll down and tap your browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.)

• Tap Location

• Select While Using the App or Ask Next Time

• Reload ActionGrid

Android

• Open Settings

• Tap Location

• Make sure location is toggled On

• Tap App permissions and find your browser

• Set to Allow while using the app

• Reload ActionGrid

Allow location access when prompted by your browser

Enabling Location on Desktop

When ActionGrid asks for location permission in your browser, click Allow. If you previously denied it:

Chrome

• Click the lock icon in the address bar

• Find Location and change to Allow

• Reload the page

Safari

• Go to Safari > Settings > Websites > Location

• Find ActionGrid and set to Allow

• Reload the page

Firefox

• Click the lock icon in the address bar

• Click Clear permissions and reload

• When prompted again, click Allow

Using a VPN?

VPNs can sometimes report your location incorrectly. If events are showing for the wrong area, try disabling your VPN temporarily.

Manual Location Alternative

If you can't or don't want to enable location services, you can set your location manually:

• Go to Settings > Location in ActionGrid

• Enter your zip code or city name

• Events will be sorted by distance from that location

Note: manual location works for event browsing but won't enable proximity-based check-in. For check-in, you'll need to ask the organizer to check you in manually.
