Managing Your Event
Your event is live — nice work! Now it's time to manage it. From tracking who's coming to handling last-minute changes, your event dashboard gives you everything you need to stay on top of things.
Your Event Dashboard
After publishing, head to /actiongrid/dashboard/events/:id (you can also tap your event from the Events list). The dashboard is your command center:
• At a Glance — total RSVPs, spots remaining, and days until the event
• Shift breakdown — see how full each shift is and who's signed up
• Activity feed — a real-time log of new signups, cancellations, and messages
• Quick actions — buttons for editing, messaging volunteers, and sharing
Your event dashboard — everything at a glance
Want to change the description, time, or location? Tap Edit Event at the top of the dashboard. Changes are saved instantly and volunteers who've already RSVP'd will get a notification about the update.
Tracking Signups
The Volunteers tab shows everyone who's RSVP'd, organized by shift. For each volunteer you can see:
• Their name and profile photo
• Which shift they signed up for
• Their signup date
• Past volunteer history (events attended, hours logged)
This is super helpful for planning. If you're running a canvass and need to pair experienced volunteers with newcomers, this list tells you exactly who's who.

Quick Tip
Keep an eye on signup momentum. If a shift is filling slowly, share the event link on social media or ask committed volunteers to bring a friend. A personal ask goes a long way.
Sending Updates
Need to share a parking update, weather heads-up, or last-minute change? Use the Message Volunteers button to reach everyone at once:
• Tap Message Volunteers from the dashboard
• Choose who to message — all volunteers, a specific shift, or individuals
• Write your message. Keep it brief and friendly
• Tap Send
Volunteers receive updates as push notifications and in their ActionGrid inbox. Messages sent within 24 hours of the event get a special "urgent" badge so they're harder to miss.
Send targeted updates to all volunteers or just specific shifts
Canceling or Rescheduling
Sometimes things don't go as planned — bad weather, a venue change, or low turnout. Here's how to handle it gracefully:
Rescheduling
• Tap Edit Event and update the date, time, or location
• In the confirmation dialog, check Notify volunteers about this change
• Add a brief note explaining the change (e.g., "Moved to Sunday due to rain")
• Save your changes
All RSVP'd volunteers will get a notification with the updated details. Their RSVPs carry over automatically — they don't need to re-sign up.
Canceling
• From the dashboard, tap More Options (the three-dot menu)
• Select Cancel Event
• Write a brief cancellation message (this goes to all volunteers)
• Confirm the cancellation
Canceled events are marked with a clear "Canceled" badge and removed from the public feed. Volunteers are notified immediately.
Always include a message when canceling so volunteers know what happened
A Note on Cancellations
Canceling is totally okay — life happens. What matters is that you communicate quickly and clearly. Volunteers appreciate honesty far more than silence.
