Starting Your Own Group
Don\'t see a community for your area or cause? Start one! Creating a group on ActionGrid is easy and a great way to rally people around something you care about.
Who Can Create a Group?
Any ActionGrid user can create a community group. You don\'t need special permissions or a campaign affiliation. If you have a reason to bring people together, go for it.
Creating Your Group
• Go to Communities and tap Create Group
• Fill in the basics:
• Name — something clear and inviting (e.g., "Eastside Climate Volunteers")
• Description — what the group is about and who should join
• Category — geographic, cause-based, campaign, or general
• Photo — a cover image that represents the group
• Choose the group type:
• Open — anyone can join instantly
• Approval Required — you review and approve join requests
• Tap Create
Fill in your group details to get started
Configuring Group Settings
After creating your group, you can fine-tune its settings:
• Visibility — choose whether your group appears in search results or is invite-only
• Notifications — set default notification preferences for new members
• Posting permissions — decide if all members can post or only admins
Configure visibility, notifications, and posting permissions
Inviting Members
Once your group is created, spread the word:
• Share the link — every group has a unique link you can text, email, or post on social media
• Invite ActionGrid users — search for people you know and send them an invite from within the app
• Promote at events — mention your group at volunteer events and encourage people to join
Invite members by sharing a link or searching for ActionGrid users
Growing Your Group
The best communities are active ones. Post regularly, create events, and engage with members. People stick around when there\'s good content and a welcoming vibe.
Managing Your Group
As the group creator, you\'re the admin. You can:
• Pin important posts and resources
• Approve or deny join requests (if approval-required)
• Remove members who violate community guidelines
• Promote other members to co-admin
• Edit the group name, description, and settings
Need Help?
Running a community takes effort. If your group grows large, consider adding co-admins to help manage discussions and events. You can promote any member from the Members tab.
